Halter’s Clank prepares the work. Engineers make the call.
A September AWS account describes how New Zealand-founded Halter uses an AI agent behind its connected farming platform. The example concerns engineering work, with people reviewing changes before they are approved.

Investigation before the engineer starts
Halter built Clank using Amazon Bedrock and Anthropic Claude. According to the account, it investigates system alerts, collects relevant information and prepares proposed fixes. It works with existing tools including Slack, GitHub and Linear; engineers review and approve changes.
Reported engineering savings
AWS reports more than 215 engineering hours saved in the first few months and automation of over 90 weekly tasks. These are supplier/customer-reported engineering results, not measured savings per farmer or evidence that Clank independently makes livestock-care decisions.
Our view: start with preparation and evidence
A smaller team could apply this pattern to a bounded support task. For example, a recurring system issue may require someone to find a ticket, read recent events and assemble a summary before deciding what to do. An assistant could prepare that material while the responsible person checks the evidence. The first trial should make its sources visible and let the reviewer correct the draft easily. That creates a clear place to judge usefulness before granting broader access.
Define the boundary before adding actions
Decide which records the assistant may read, what it can propose and who may approve a change. Keep sensitive information out of the trial unless the access arrangement has been reviewed. Include an escalation route when the evidence is incomplete, and retain a record of the proposed action and the human decision. Measure review time and corrections as well as preparation time. A tool that produces a confident answer quickly still needs a reviewer who can tell whether the answer is supported.
